Mel Robbins – Let Them – Let Me – Chronic Illness

So, I am a lover of good words, profound sayings, and easy-to-digest pieces of thought that can transform your soul, change your actions, and simply make life better.

Take, for instance, a beautiful older lady in a Walmart pharmacy who saw me about to explode with two sick little ones and the pharmacist telling me it would be another 15 minutes. This angel in disguise pulled me aside and said, “Honey, do you know what’s happening?” I looked at her probably with tears, and she said, “The devil’s trying to get to you—don’t let him.”

This statement hit me like whoa, and my whole world changed (it’s been 30 years). Never again was I put in a bad spot without a reason and a way out. The devil wanted something, and I had to defend my presence, my ways, and my attitude. This now became a challenge and a new way of life.

So now, as I am living with a chronic, invisible illness, and the devil is trying to get me… I find I need a little more help… seeing as some days the devil can or does have me : ). Ah, in comes Mel Robbins with new, extra words I can use. Let Them, then Let Me.

Whoa again!

Let a new doctor dismiss me, let them (I can’t change them), action, I can find a better one.
Let my sister dismiss my total illness as if it is not there, let her, action (this is harder since it’s family, but I do get to choose) – only talk when I have enough spoons and if that is never — okay.
Let everyone else say what they want and let me either address it if I want or not.

Let Them – Then let me – ; )

All this and I haven’t even read the book yet. Thank you Mel Robbins.

Now I have read the book

First, awesome book, deep, helpful, and, yes, very insightful. Can I wrap my head around let them then let me – yes when I really don’t know the person. When it comes to close people, it’s harder….. But this is a great new tool to help.

So if you find yourself struggling with people finding it hard to understand you and you wanting to (insert your word here) grab the book and maybe you can find a better alternative.

Chat Support

Too Much – LET’S CHAT
It certainly is too much for me many days! I am NOT a doctor but have been living with MCAS for decades before even knowing what it was. Always wish, I could get support (a little talk therapy) during all this trial and error. Even once I found a doctor (which I love, love, love) I still found it hard to talk through things as appointments are so far out.
